Milk race with obstacles

For many milk producers 2014 was a turning point — it was necessary to suspend the implementation of large projects. It happened with the Dutchman Kees Hayzingoy. Director and co-owner of «Kischentsy» had high hopes for the future of Ukrainian dairy industry. He began to build a dairy unit for 3,5 thousand cows. Plans, though were postponed until better times, but milk production has not stopped.

Realities and plans

Owners are engaged in dairy cattle in «Kischentsy» since 2008, when they acquired a farm in the village of Dobra. They got an old barn, which was converted into a loose housing barn for dairy cows on deep litter with a sloping floor. After a relatively minor investment in a year they received 6400 kg of milk per cow from a local red- and black-and-white breed. In 2011, the herd had 183 dairy cows with an average capacity of 7,000 kg of milk per year.
