World prospects of Ukrainian beef

On November 24, in the framework of the food exhibition Ukrainian Food Expo, the first congress of beef producers and exporters of the Ukrainian Beef Congress was held. The highlight of the congress was the presentation of business plans for fattening young cattle, slaughter and processing developed by the FAO/EBRD special project. Now Ukraine almost does not export beef, although the project's research has shown that the potential of this industry for the next 4-5 years under the condition of professional marketing, large-scale and deep processing and effective grain feed allows to reach $2 billion of export earnings. We offer analysis of the beef market and Ukrainian perspectives on it from the economist of the investment department of FAO Andrey Yarmak.
