Each farmer knows a simple truth: in order to achieve significant success in dairy farming, you constantly need to worry about the reproduction of healthy productive livestock. But implementing it in practice is not so easy. The problem is in a poor domestic breeding, which lags far behind foreign breeding.

It turns out that to buy cattle in Ukraine, which would be equal in performance to foreign one is impossible. Why it is so, hard to say: low scientific level, inadequate funding, lack of quality genetic material ... Whatever it was, but it is the fact.

Ukraine through the prism of other countries

Dairy farms began to import heifers realizing the need to replenish their herds with high-productive cattle. First there were isolated cases and small parties of heifers, because the service is not cheap.

If we talk about the market as a whole, it has intensified in Ukraine since 2007, as before we did not have a professional certificate, in simple words — permission to import heifers. This is due to the fact of a new disease appearance — Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Only five years ago the case started its progress. «Ukrainian dairy company» purchased the first consignment of heifers. Since then, the import of heifers in Ukraine quickened.
