Where demand exceeds supply

Chernigivshchyna — a land where large scale milk production was preserved since Soviet Union. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy data in 2010 the amount of cattle in the region reached 149.6 thousand head. However, in June 2011 it decreased to 143.4 thousand (95.9%). Last year, Chernigivshchyna ranked third place (after Poltava and Sumy) among other regions of Ukraine for the quantity of milk delivered to industrial processing. Interestingly that in this region of more or less «industrial» milk (percentage of farms 66.6%) the first manufacturers in the country that chose other direction in dairy production. Their production technology has one goal: to create the most comfortable conditions for the cows, close to nature, and to shorten the path of milk to the consumer. Such technology requires compliance with many features maintenance, feeding and care. It is difficult enough. And all this in order to obtain organic milk, which kept all the qualities for which it is called the «elixir of life».

Farms, where such milk is produced, are located in the north of the region, in Gorodnyansky and Semenov areas and belong to the group of «Ethno-product».
