Summer camp for cows

Use of summer camps is well known but forgotten practice of keeping cattle. However, in the Poltava region is the company that successfully uses this system. It helps to reduce the cost of livestock keeping, revitalizing them, repairing facilities and solve many other current issues.

Enterprise «Mayak» is located in a picturesque corner, which seems designed by nature to grow cattle and produce milk. Earlier, in Soviet times, every village had its own farm, but some of them did not survive the economic experiments since independence. Enterprise «Mayak» is an example of how ingenious management, combining of existing production base and modern technologies give excellent results.

Summer camps were in every Soviet household, which produced milk. Then zootechnicians solved in such way the problem of feed, particularly protein deficiency. Now animals are fed monotypic full ration feed mix during the year, many farms passed up from summer camps. In addition, they put in front of managers and owners of farms milking problem. Cans didn’t solve the problem. Some farmers passed to fixed housing without walks. Director of enterprise «Mayak» Vyacheslav Pryimak didn’t agree: «Now, when the animal is used intensively, health issues are acute. Fixed housing leads livestock to stagnation and physiological changes in the body. Animal must move» — explains the use of summer camps at his farm director.

«Within six months, while we keep cows in a summer camp, the cost for service and housing are minimal. Cows are constantly in the fresh air and natural surface, it positively affects their health. Also use of open areas can free up nearly half of the staff. We can effectively use farm workers and bring them to repair. Most people just take a vacation to improve their health with children or settle domestic affairs» — joins to the conversation manager of Livestock Sergei Teliuk.
