Dairy Rivers of Uhryniv

The farm «Shevchenko», in the village Uhryniv, Horokhiv Region, Volyn, created a closed cycle of milk production — from growing food and healthy cattle to clean dairy products. The last link of the chain — its own processing plant — uhrynivtsi recently shipped the first batch of products to consumers. All of these efforts — not to depend on the whims of processors. People ordered in Israel the mini-plant, which has no analogues in Ukraine. Andrii Turak manages farm for several decades.

Irina Panibratets, Project Manager HR consulting company «Dykun Global Consult»

In the previous issue, we tried to give some useful advice aspiring professionals who have entered the labor market and actively seeking for a new job or just plan to walk this difficult path. Now I would like to talk about the selection of personnel from the standpoint of the employer.

Beef with American accent

The company «Atlantic Farms II», which was established by the American family, has been raising cattle for meat. Profitability of the company — about 12%. With a closed cycle (has its own forage — plant products and animal feed production), this Ukrainian company with U.S. investments felt itself confidently even during the crisis and unexpected price fluctuations. Domestic manufacturers could compete with their foreign competitors for 50% of marble meat market: Ukraine has significant deficit of this elite product.

«Immigrants» in Ukraine

Each farmer knows a simple truth: in order to achieve significant success in dairy farming, you constantly need to worry about the reproduction of healthy productive livestock. But implementing it in practice is not so easy. The problem is in a poor domestic breeding, which lags far behind foreign breeding.

Company’s safety

Irina Panibratets, director of recruitment company «AgriPersonnel»

One of the most pressing issues of agricultural market is companies’safety. Previously, we have written about such problems of agricultural markets: lack of qualified personnel, peculiarities of the Ukrainian mentality, failure of technologies, as well as other factors on which the outcome depends on.

Foreign managers in Ukrainian companies: pros and cons of cooperation

Expats – it is rather new term in the Ukrainian language and is not included in the dictionary. Despite this, inUkraineit is often used in different contexts. So, first of all, we should define the terminology used.

Motivation of the staff in the AIC

In a highly competitive situation in agricultural market, more and more companies invest in human resources development, regarding it not to be an expense, but as assets of the company.

Human resource management, as well as any other administrative process, includes following components: planning, organization, motivation and control. Personnel management is the universal system, and is difficult to determine the importance of any of its components, but with the increasing market competition motivation becomes an increasingly important function.

Automated software management process of feeding — a luxury or a necessity?

Often Ukrainian milk producers are jokingly, or seriously thinking about feeding animals like this: as they say, on a dairy farm there are several rations given. The first one is written on paper, it has been developed by a specialist in nutrition – a consultant, or zootechnician. The second one is the one downloaded in the mixer (if there is any) and prepared. The third one is a distributed one. The fourth one is the one that the cattle have eaten... Well, we’ll stop here, because there can be lots of variations of rations set. Everything depends on the process of feeding on each farm and the number of workers.

Ms. Evhenia, what made you start dairy business?

We started to work in agricultural sphere in 2003. It was accidentally, I keep saying that this plan is blessed by God. Earlier, from 1998 to 2002, we used to sell grain and sugar, collaborating with agricultural enterprises, things were going well. But once, in early spring, one of district officials appealed to us — saying, Evhenia, I know your persistence, let one of the district farms to be in your ward, it is not too difficult. Actually, the entire economy was in decline: there were no funds for spring sowing, arrears of wages — about 3.5 million rubles. Without understanding of what is awaiting for us, we started work. As we were told, deposit a little and get a little more.
