Dutch Milk Day in Ukraine

It was celebrated on September, 17 in Cherkasy region. The event organizers are “Dykun Global Consult” company, the Netherlands Embassy in Ukraine and Association of Dairy Producers. Among the sponsors of the Dutch Dairy Day in Ukraine were MSD Animal Health, UNIFORM-AGRI, Lely East, Agroinmash, Norvet, Ukragropostach.

Ukrainian dairy export isn’t diversified enough. Most dairy products get to near-abroad, especially to Russia. Having some priorities our neighbor sometimes sets limitations or blocks imports of Ukrainian dairy products. Such steps influence negatively both dairy processors and producers. It’s not the first year when international dairy community, especially European, discusses possible impact on dairy production after abolition of milk quotas in EU. Such a term as ‘postquotas period’ has appeared in analytical reports. European Parliament also works on scenarios of dairy industry development after 2015. Experts criticize some of its work. Business doesn’t ‘stand still’ as well: huge investments in equipment for milk-powder production affirms that processing is preparing for ‘milk tsunami’. There is a point that milk producers won’t be able to raise production essentially.

National Farm Day

August 28, 2013 became a day when National Farm Day was celebrated in Ukraine for the first time. The event took place on the premises of the dairy complex «Katerynoslavskii» in Dnipropetrovsk. About three hundred experts in dairy industry became its participants and among them managers and specialists of agricultural enterprises, agents of trading companies and business associations. The event was organized by Ukrainian Dairy Association (UDA) and the agriconsulting company «Dykun». Principal sponsors of the National Farm Day were LLC «Limagrain Ukraine », LLC «BASF» and LLC «John Deer Ukraine».

Stepan Ivakhiv is a co-founder of financial-industrial group «Continuum», which is a leading player in the dairy market of Ukraine. In the «Continuum» Stepan was responsible for the milk line and now walked away from business management, as became the Member of Parliament of Ukraine. In the Parliament Ivakhiv is a Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations. His experience in the dairy business he uses in lawmaking.
