Foreign managers in Ukrainian companies: pros and cons of cooperation

Expats – it is rather new term in the Ukrainian language and is not included in the dictionary. Despite this, inUkraineit is often used in different contexts. So, first of all, we should define the terminology used.

Water is a key component of feeding

Drinking water must be tasty, clear, odourless and colourless. In fact, as a stockbreeder, you must be willing to drink the water yourself, in that way it can be seen that the drinking water is truly of optimal quality.

At first glance, ordinary, nothing special remarkable man. But talking more, at once you notice the unusualness of this person. Very clever, wise, and most importantly a dedicated to his job, Mr. Pon devoted almost his entire life to Holsteins...

Cinderella of food elite

Recently, the usefulness of milk for human health is often questionable. Numerous publications in various media (including television) implement abstracts: "milk is good only for children", "elderly people drink bad milk," milk is bad because of lactose intolerance "(how many people - is not mentioned) "Milk helps set overweight", "what we now drink - is not milk," all cows are sick, "all milk is from powder, all butter is from palm oil", etc. Only lazy did not join this chorus.

Evhenia Uvarkina: “When we unite, we become a force to be reckoned with”

Evhenia, what do you think about the union of producers? What should it be? What is their purpose?

I am firmly convinced that nowadays the milk producers in Russia and Ukraine are ready to adequately defend themselves and their interests through unions and associations. All those problems that are in the field — constant fluctuations in milk prices, the permanent opposition of producers and processors with tug of war, technology issues — made me think what to do to change things for the better.

Thus, I have had the idea, which can be conventionally called a “pyramid”. At the heart of the pyramid there are four anchor points.

The first point is the regional associations of milk producers or in other words, subsidiaries of the Federal Union Soyuzmoloko. These are non-profit associations involved in public activity. For such a big country like Russia, there is a need in high-quality work of regional alliances, which in turn will allow to do better work under the Federal Union and a more stable dairy industry, accordingly.

Motivation of the staff in the AIC

In a highly competitive situation in agricultural market, more and more companies invest in human resources development, regarding it not to be an expense, but as assets of the company.

Human resource management, as well as any other administrative process, includes following components: planning, organization, motivation and control. Personnel management is the universal system, and is difficult to determine the importance of any of its components, but with the increasing market competition motivation becomes an increasingly important function.

Dairy business in Russian way

A year or two ago to see the dairy farm supplied with modern equipment and technique, robots and automated software management, one had to go to the Western Europe, the USA, Canada and Israel. Nowadays, we more often appeal to our closest neighbor, Russia, with the farms, which you will not see in any country in the world.

One of these farms is in the Republic of Tatarstan, on a junction of two continents, Europe and Asia, and two religions, Orthodoxy and Islam. Dairy Complex Ltd. “Rahimov’s SEE” is a feather of a cap not only of its owners, the Rahimovs, but of the whole Republic and even country. The farm is unique, indeed. Its main feature is that for a big trade milk production they use a voluntary milking system (VMS), to put it simple, they are just milking robots. There are several similar farms in the world. The biggest of them, with 20 milking robots “Mason Dixon Farms”, is in the USA, two more are in Belarus (12 and 16 robots) and “Rahimov’s SEE” (16 robots) in the Russian Federation.

European dairy cares. Ukrainian year summary

The third month of the year 2011 is passing. The results are given, rankings are compiled for the last year. European analysts have noted positive trends on the global market: the demand for dairy products in the world is increasing noticeably. The issues of the dairy industry, the regulation of relationships between producers and milk processors are concerned not only in Ukraine.

Automated software management process of feeding — a luxury or a necessity?

Often Ukrainian milk producers are jokingly, or seriously thinking about feeding animals like this: as they say, on a dairy farm there are several rations given. The first one is written on paper, it has been developed by a specialist in nutrition – a consultant, or zootechnician. The second one is the one downloaded in the mixer (if there is any) and prepared. The third one is a distributed one. The fourth one is the one that the cattle have eaten... Well, we’ll stop here, because there can be lots of variations of rations set. Everything depends on the process of feeding on each farm and the number of workers.

Properly grown youngsters — it is minimum ten thousandth milk yield per cow

Serhii Phil, AVM consultant

In recent years, Ukrainian milk producres received considerable portion of information on modern technologies of milk production. In various regions of Ukraine there were conferences and seminars held. training and educational tours to the leaders in milk production in Europe, North and South America, Asia and the Middle East were organized. However, surprisingly, still most of the farms have not adopted modern world elaborated technology of milk production. Why? Probably there are many reasons, objective and subjective. We do not aim to analyze them, and want the readers just to pay attention to one of the most critical moments - replacement calves growing. It is here where some make mistakes, others try to save money not realizing that the end result justifies the costs. Still, we all understand that properly grown calves give at least 10,000 milk yield per cow.
