Insurance for farmers
The insurance market of agricultural products in Ukraine is still in its infancy, and agricultural insurance culture among Ukrainian farmers has not emerged. Agricultural companies and insurance companies almost lost interest in agricultural insurance through the abolition of the system of state support, which operated in 2007-2009, current legislative changes designed to create a strong and effective insurance support for farmers. Bovine herpesvirus type 1, the virus known as infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), is common on farms around the world. This disease causes significant economic losses due to violations of cows’ reproduction and respiratory disease in calves. Animals after infection become lifelong carriers of the virus IBR, but due stressors of various origins (calving, changing diet and welfare, regrouping, extreme weather conditions, etc.) the virus begins to multiply, causing disease.

Dairy cattle — the way from a social project to business

Most problems with cows’ health are the consequence of improper housing during the dry period and within 40-50 days after calving. The management of dry cows significantly affect the performance in the next lactation, the state of health during and after calving. Chance of metabolism disorder in this critical period for animals is very high. As a result, diseases such as milk fever, placental retention, udder edema, ketosis, fatty liver syndrome appear.
